I found my next short term goal! Here it is:

Kevin and I both want road bikes for next spring, and this is the perfect match for us! It's affordable, socially responsible, and good for the environment! Plus, it'll be a super fun thing to do together!
So, we have a date for next Tuesday night to go find our new bikes!! I'm really excited to learn how to fix/repair/build a bike!

That sounds like it will be right up your alley!
I would love to have something like that. Belinda would hate it because I would live there. ;- )
I didn't realize how rare these programs are! I'm shocked that there doesn't seem to be anything like it in Ft. Worth or Crowley.
I know NOTHING about bike maintenance, so I'm pretty psyched to do this!
I'm lucky in that, well, hey, I *am* a mechanical engineer, but also, my LBS (local bike shop) is very helpful. The mechanic, Mike, has been very helpful in educating me about bikes. I'm not special; part of the shop's "mission" is to encourage people to commute on bicycles, and education is a big part of that.
I guess the bottom line is that there are lots of ways to feed a passion for bicycling.
