Things that make me feel old...

1. "Throwing" my back out. Just the phrase makes me feel old. Forget about the actual pain that goes with it.

2. Not recognizing the majority of celebrity names during Oscars/MTV Music awards/Etc.

3. Not really caring that I don't recognize these names.

4. Having an opportunity to go out on a Saturday night, and choosing to stay home instead!

5. I have NO idea what a Blackberry does, or why it's so cool.

6. Not understanding the whole "Wii" craze. Isn't it just a video game system?

7. Standing at the magazine display, and chosing "Cottage Living" over "Cosmopolitan"

Any one have anything they'd like to add?

Ok first off I think 5 and 6 are more of an aversion to technology issue than an age issue :) oh and by the way your post was delivered to my blackberry and I am now responding from my blackberry. Oh and now I think I shall go and do some yoga on my wii. That way I won't throw my back out again becuse I'm getting old!

Lol funny post. One thing that makes me feel old is at work I find that the kids don't know what the movie karate kid is. Man that's like the whole reason I started karate. Oh but I've been doing that for over 20 years... Hmmm

I was thinking that my aversion to technology is another sign of how old I am :)

Except my aversion to technology is so extensive that I refuse to get even basic cable! Which every one my age, has!

It should be mandatory homework for your students to watch Karate Kid. Maybe movie night at the school!

realizing that next year will be my 10 year high school reunion....And I distinctly remember being in high school and talking about it or hearing people older than I was talk about going to theirs. And I remember thinking, "Wow, that's so far away".

That and the fact that my niece Braylee is 8 and has a cell phone......I didn't get mine until I "had" to at age 24!

OH...and sorry to hear that you threw your back out! Ouch!

Yes throwing your back out hurts and I did it long before I was "old". That is why they invented muscle relaxants. I know what a blackberry is but I can't see wasteing the money for one. I get the whole Wii thing but I again I can't see wasteing the money.

The one I'll add is thinking that a 20 something looks like a "kid" that isn't old enough to drive.

Seeing a teenage boy with his pants down below his butt. I want to walk over and pull them up....not down :)

Felicia-High school reunions make me feel old. But they also make me glad that I'm older! I didn't love H.S.

Hello Heidi,

Great list. Age hit me when my oldest daughter (26) upon hearing a Rolling Stones song asked "Aren't they all dead?"

I've linked to your post on my blog at

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Feeling old hit me a couple of weeks ago as I watched my investments drop in value. The talking head was saying not to worry if we have five years or more until we need that money. I agreed and then realized that five years would put me a few years into my 60s. Yowza!!!

VM-I hear ya on the music gap! My oldest saw a Grateful Dead bumper sticker a couple of years ago and said, "Hey cool! Gay pride bears!"

Spokane Al- I jsut started seriously saving for retirement in the past 6 months. The last statement I got from my 401K prompted me to call my Mom in a panic! How can I lose money? I don't even have any to lose!!

I thought of another one today. It dawned on me that my oldest child is at the age I was when I got engaged (21). That is scarry to me.

Penny-And I became a Mom when I was the age of your oldest child!!

Wow where has the time go because my son and your daughter should not be as old as they are. They were supposed to grow up slowly I remember filling that in on my request form. I remember checking the happy, healthy, but slow moving childhood:).
